Ruth Roman is the youngest daughter born to Lithuanian as well as Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold (Gold) and Abraham Roman in Lynn, Massachusetts. Her father, a carnival barker, passed away when she was a small little girl. This forced her mother to support the family by working as an attendant and a cleaner. Ruth was raised in a poor neighborhood of Boston Massachusetts where she attended high school. However, she was only in the school for two years, before leaving to pursue her acting profession. Her path to success turned out be filled with challenges and In New York, she obtained a job posing for stills for a crime magazine however, theatrical opportunities eluded her. Then, she worked as an hat-checker at an evening club, before deciding to call the shots and moving back to Boston. In Boston, she made a buck in the ushering industry during the in the daytime, while at night she was a part of the New England Repertory Company. This was her very first role as an actor. She graduated with a degree in drama from Bishop-Lee Theatre School.
